1 More Month

Hard to believe it, but Love Bug is 11 months old today!  I just can't believe how fast he's growing and how fast this year is going by.  He's just started to cruise so he may actually be walking by his birthday, though my bet is on him walking at 14 months.

We took him back to allergist this week for more allergy testing.  He's still really allergic to milk and almonds.  And as we suspected, he's allergic to avocado.  Banana didn't show up this time, so we're going to very carefully let him try it.  Banana and avocado allergies and linked and are similar to latex allergy, which we think he may have too.  The clams didn't show up, but we wouldn't test that one out anyway since he's so young.  He did have a slight allergy to egg, which confirms why he threw-up a few weeks ago after having a bit of egg and a slight allergy to rice, though he's always done ok with rice, so we'll keep an eye on that too.  The most fun part about his egg allergy is that we get to take him back to the allergist for flu shot testing to see if/how he can get the flu shot, that will be fun!
His allergies have really been a blessing in disguise for the whole family.  We buy a lot more organic or locally grown foods now; including meat, veggies and fruit.  And we generally cook from scratch.  So we're all eating a lot healthier and we really only cook what he can eat.
He's a very happy baby and we're excited to celebrate his first birthday a month from now!

Just Like Maddie and AnnaBell

Roo and I went shopping today after we dropped Baxter off at Bark n Bubbles to get cleaned.  We were cruising through the shoe store to look at new shoes for mommy.  Roo is really pickey about what shoes he'll wear, pretty much only Crocs, but when we walked by the kids section today he stopped in his tracks when he saw the shoes of his dreams.  What were they?  They were bright green and yellow froggie flip flops.  He remembered that Maddie and AnnaBell had flip flops so he wanted a pair too.  I found a box with his size and let him try them on.  I figured once I started to put them on his feet he'd balk.  Nope, not the slightest, he loved them.  When we got to the checkout I had the lady scan them to see if they were on sale.  Roo took one of them off and I figured he was done and didn't want them anymore.  Nope, he said that he wanted to buy them and was giving it to me to have the lady take the security tag off.  So now, just as fall is hitting and it's getting cooler out, Roo has a fab new pair of froggie flip flops.  I can just see him wearing them in the snow now!  I'll have to tell him that Maddie and Annabell wear sneakers too, maybe that'll be the trick with shoes!

Broken Mommy

Mommy is broken.  I am old and hurt my back.  I've been doing a running program and decided to put an extra run in for good measure this past weekend.  Good measure alright.  It's probably what broke me.  The only other times I hurt my back like this was when I was 4 months pregnant with each of the boys.  No worries, I'm definitely not pregnant.

So I asked Roo for help this morning.  I told him mommy's back has a boo boo and that I needed him to be my helper.  Usually he's a great helper.  Today, he translated him helping me get him out of his crib to putting his feet up on the crib so I could get him out feet first.  Very helpful Roo!  He said that his feet would help.  Nice!

I did get an unsolicited kiss and hug tonight.  That's better than any help ever!

And then at bedtime while we were reading he told me that he wanted more mommies.  I wasn't quite sure what he meant so I asked.  He told me that he wants more mommies just like this one.  :)

Slacker Blogger...And Baby Dinosaur Backpack

Yes, that's me.  I'll update sometime this weekend.  I am way behind.  Roo peed in the potty.  The boys bathe together now, Love Bug in his big quack quack floating in the tub and Roo makes faces at him.  Dada's truck is fixed and has returned, but seems to have 2 additional full size doors...Roo's super excited!  The baby dinosaur backpack arrived.  And so much more!  How's that for a teaser :)

Aunt Carol the Roo Whisperer

This weekend dada went to Maine for his Uncle's funeral and I went to grandma and grandpa's house to visit with the boys.  Aunt Carol was down for the weekend to help mom sort through Bubbie's stuff.  Roo's met and played with Aunt Carol before, but this weekend she became his new favorite person.
They slept in the same room together and I was starting to get worried when they didn't emerge from the room until after 0900 Saturday.  Aunt Carol said the Roo woke up at 0600, played around with his flashlight and she played a game of hide Roo with him and then around 0715 they fell back to sleep until 0900.  Nice!

Later that day, Roo wanted Aunt Carol or Carol as he calls her, to hold him.  She picked him up and held him and a few minutes later I looked in the dining room and she was rocking him back and forth on her lap.  It was precious.

And at bedtime Saturday night, Roo would only let Aunt Carol put his blankets on him and turn off the light.  He did make sure that she was going to sleep in the r
oom with him again.
We had a good weekend visiting and the boys were great in the car to and from grandma and grandpa's house.  Dada made it home safely late Saturday and was ready to play with the boys when I got home Sunday.

1,2,3,4...

If you're around Roo anytime in the near future, BEWARE!  If he counts, 1,2,3,4 he's probably going to take action on 4.  This means he's going to jump, run, leap, dive, etc onto the floor, onto the couch, onto the dog, onto you, onto...?  At least he gives ample warning ;)

Once Upon a Baby Dinosaur

This is a story about a boy named Roo and his bestest new friend, Baby Dinosaur.
Baby Dinosaur hatched from an egg that Grandpa picked out for Roo.  Grandma didn't think Roo would enjoy waiting the 24 - 48 hours for Baby Dinosaur to hatch from his egg.  Mommy and daddy were also skeptical.  Little did we know that Baby Dinosaur would soon become Roo's best friend.
Baby Dinosaur enjoys all sort of activities.  He enjoys waking each morning and having Roo give him a great big good morning kiss.  He and Roo enjoy long rides in the red wagon together.  Roo is very careful to make sure Baby Dinosaur isn't too cold and carefully covers him in his warm blankey.

When family visits, Roo ensures Baby Dinosaur gets his picture taken professionally with the family.  He also took Baby Dinosaur on a field trip to the pool.  When we went to the berry farm, Baby Dinosaur enjoyed meeting the goats and playing on the swings.
Baby Dinosaur gets really dirty doing all these different activities.  Roo makes sure Baby Dinosaur gets good and clean each night during bath time.  After bath time, Roo puts Baby Dinosaur to bed for the evening in his water.

Unfortunately, Baby Dinosaur ran into trouble with the BWI airport authority and was forever lost.  Boom!  There goes Baby Dinosaur.  Luckily, mommy was able to find Baby Dinosaur triplets and Roo now safely cares for his Baby Dinosaurs in a big ziploc bag.

Awwww.....Baby Dinosaur......

Surprise!

As soon as Grammy and Pop Pop booked their tickets to come visit us a month or so ago, we conspired with Uncle Dan to surprise her so she could see all of her grandkids at the same time.  Uncle Dan drove up with Maddie and Belle on Friday night and stayed at a hotel in town.  On Saturday morning while Dada was making breakfast, Maddie walked in the front door, walked up to Grammy and gave her a big hug while she was feeding Love Bug.  Grammy's response, oh, hello.  And then she realized it was Maddie and that we had all ganged up on her for a big surprise.  She was so excited!

We had a blast over the weekend.  The kids played outside all day on Saturday.
Sunday was also a busy day.  We had a family picture taken and did our best to get Belle and Roo to smile.  We did get a few good ones.

After that we went to the pool and the kids had a blast.
Later we went to the Berry farm and had ice cream, fed the goats and played on the swing set.

We were all so tired that nobody wanted to make dinner that night, so we had pizza.  And then we surprised Grammy with a birthday cake since she has a big birthday this year and we can't be there.  She'll officially be ......

All and in all we had a great weekend.  It's always a blast to get all the kids under one roof, and it sure helps us all sleep well at night, keeping up with them is definitely tiring!

Laps Around the House

Uncle Matt, you asked for a new picture of the boys together....here it is!
Dada put Love Bug in Roo's red wagon and started to wheel him around the house, soon enough, Roo jumped in and wanted to hold Love Bug and go for a ride too.  No ride around the house would be complete without Baxter trying to get in on the fun.
We even gave Roo the controls for a lap (an followed very closely).  What a great way to get the kiddos laughing and tire everyone out at the same time.
