Happy Birthday B!

Today's is Baxter's 6th birthday.  I can remember when I got home from a work trip and Dada came to meet me when I returned and I got to meet my little Baxter for the very first time.  From what the breeder said, he was spry from the beginning, probably the most energetic of his brothers and sisters.  Now that Baxter is 42 years old in human years we've noticed that he hasn't really changed much at all.  He's still a big puppy and loves his babies more than anything.  He still likes to sleep in bed with us, get up first thing in the morning for his food, and wait for us all day on the couch in the living room.  He has gotten a bit fat and the diet is taking a little longer this time to slim him down.  It must be because Love Bug loves to feed him!  Baxter had a good birthday, he liked his Rex Sox ball and loved his goofy looking stuffed animal.  We love you B!

Dino in an Egg

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit this weekend and they brought Roo an egg that hatches a dinosaur.  You have to submerge the egg in water for 24-48 hours and the dinosaur gradually hatches.  We put it in the tank we used to have the fish named fish in and have been watching it grow.  Roo loves to check on the dino's progress and mama and dada are equally if not more entertained.  When will it hatch?  How big will it be?  Is it possible it'll hatch a real live dino?  

But the funniest thing was what Roo said.  The egg is resting on a black colored rock.  Roo remarked that the dinosaur had gone poop.  We all thought this was hilarious and if you look at how it's sitting, it definitely looks like the done went number two.

Like Brother, Like Brother

Love Bug came down with his first ear infection.  Poor little guy was fussy a lot of the weekend and hasn't been sleeping really well at night.  We figured it was teething pains and gave him some Motrin and figured it would go away in a few days.  Last night was really tough though, he just couldn't fall back to sleep, the 3am hour was the most painful for everyone.  When he got up in the morning he was really hot and had a fever of 102.7.  I took him to the doc and he has an ear infection in his left ear, not a really bad one so that's good.  Because I'm allergic to penicillin, we avoid giving it to the kids as well, so he has some other sort of antibiotic that we're hoping he's not allergic to; it always makes me nervous with all his allergies.  

Roo had a double ear infection at about the same age Love Bug is now.  That was when we were at the beach; boy was that a doozy.  He was a pukey and poopy mess.  He started cutting his incisors just about the same time as that infection so we're curious to see if Love Bug does the same.

Tonight's going to be a long night, but he's so cute, so hopefully he'll be better sooner than later and his big smile comes back soon :)

Check Back in Time

I got a scanner today.  It is everything I hoped it would be.  Check out 2006 and 2007 for new updates.  Once I'm done with everything from before the blog started, I'll move onto blogging "Life Before Kids" and then "Life Before Baxter."  This should keep me busy for a while.

Just Because He's 3...

Doesn't mean that he's ready for the potty.  I feel like there's been all this pressure to get Roo potty trained since he just turned 3.  But just because you're a day older doesn't mean that you are all of a sudden ready to pee and poop in the potty.  It's not like we're ignoring the fact that we do have to potty train him, we just know that like everything else, it'll be a lot easier when he's ready.  

In the car to/from the sitter's we watch Elmo's Potty Time, and we watch in the car on the weekends too.  Roo gets the fact that Elmo doesn't need diapers anymore and uses the potty to pee and poo but he hasn't translated that for himself yet.  I got him a pack of Elmo underwear today when we were out in town; last week I got him an Elmo toilet seat.  When we got home, I changed him into it.  When the first pair got wet, I told him to make sure he lets mommy and daddy know when he needs to pee.  When he wet the second pair he got really upset about getting all wet and asked for his diaper back.  

The rest of the night he just had fun playing with his underwear.  When he's ready, we'll put forth a full effort, but neither one of us really thinks he's ready yet.  And trust me, we'll let you know once he's potty trained!

Almost...Sitting!

I was just going to post about how the darned scanner won't work but as I was doing that, Love Bug almost got himself into a sitting position!  That's a tough one to master.  Good job Love Bug, keep up the good work!

***edited!!!!  He did it, he did it!  Love Bug can get into a sitting position all on his own.  Yay, Love Bug!

Roo was so proud that he did a forward roll!  Roo's quite the little gymnast!

Go Army!

No, not 'Go Army Beat Navy'...Yay Love Bug for army crawling.  It's a small crawl forward in the moving world but a big step forward for the Love Bug!  Yay for moving forward to get what you want Love Bug!

Can't Contain My Excitement!

I got a scanner from someone on JBay at work today for $5!  Woo hoo!  Here's to a productive night scanning!

New Project Announcement!

So I've been thinking that it's time to attempt a new project.  I haven't been good at scrap booking at all in the, oh, let's say, 18 months.  In fact, I still haven't finished the "Roo's 1st Year" scrap book.  But, I have a plan.  I'm going to get a scanner and scan in all of the pages of his unfinished scrapbook and back date them in the blog.  So when you randomly see, August 2006 appear, it's not that Roo is being re-born, it's that mommy is making her life a lot easier and and freeing herself from the guilt of not scrapping.  Anyhow, the first step in this plan is actually buying a Mac compatible photo-quality scanner.  I welcome any recommendations on what to buy.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter :)

edited to add:  So I noticed that I didn't start the blog until Feb 2008.  I'll make-up what happened between the end of Roo's scrapbook and Feb 2008.  Should be entertaining!

New Song...

So we've been singing, Roo's cute, yeah yeah, Roo's cute.  To which Roo decided to sing:

What can I say, we're working on potty training (very slowly) so I guess it could be worse!

Birthday Balloon Maddness

We went a little crazy playing with Roo's birthday balloon's tonight.  

Love Bug only took one nap today, a really long one nap, but still, it was early enough in the day that he was tired by 6.  And what better to cheer a Love Bug up than a big red balloon. 

And last year at Connor's birthday party we tied a balloon to a belt loop on Roo's pants so he wanted us to do that for him but since he was wearing his shark pants, this was the best mommy could figure out.  

And Baxter really wanted in on the fun so we tied one to his collar.  He tried really hard to catch the balloon.  It was hysterical.  He did eventually get it off.  

Balloon fun for everyone!

Red Party, Red Cake!

Happy 3rd Birthday Roo!

Yesterday was Roo's 3rd birthday party and today is his actual birthday.

The birthday party was great!  We had red decorations and all wore red shirts.  Roo loved the red theme since it's his favorite color right now.

It was so good to see everyone and Roo had a blast.  We had pizza and ice cream cake and Grandma's spinach dip didn't stand a chance!  

Roo had a blast playing with Kaitlyn and Connor.  Kaitlyn came well prepared to play with Roo...she brough her own yellow tractor!

He really enjoyed opening his presents.  And it's not hard to figure out what Roo likes; cars, trucks, tractors, planes and helicopters!

He loved the happy birthday song this year too and wasn't afraid to blow out his candles.   He couldn't wait to dig into the cake!

It was a wonderful day!

Bracelets

We went out to dinner tonight at a new seafood restaurant, Buster's, in Port Royal.  We all enjoyed our dinner.  Roo thought it was hilarious to use the onion rings as bracelets.  We did too!

A Little Collection

I get updates from a parenting website I visit. Updates for Love Bug are weekly since he's still a baby and Roo's updates are every few weeks. This week's update for Roo talked about collections. Anyone who knows Roo and has seen his bed has seen his collection of cars, trucks, trains and tractors that go to bed with him each day. Here is a quick snapshot of the collection lined up in the kitchen.

9 Months Old

Love Bug is 9 months old today.  It's crazy how fast time is flying by.  He's got a lot to say and is talking up a storm.  He's a bit more laid back when it comes to the physical stuff though; he's not crawling yet and has taken one cruising step holding onto the sofa.  Most of the time he's just content rolling around on the floor and playing with things with his hands and feet.  He's got 1 tooth and probably a couple more on the way this week.  He's got a wonderful disposition and it makes me happy to think of he and Roo happily playing together trying to take each others toys every evening.   

Ruby Anniversary

Last weekend we celebrated Grandma and Grandpa's 40th anniversary.  We all gathered at Aunt Linda and Uncle Edd's house and had a fun and relaxing day catching up on what everyone is doing.  We discovered a couple of things; Uncle Edd is a baby whisperer and that Love Bug likes beer just as much as Roo.
