Haircut #3

Roo hasn't had a haircut since we returned from vacation, last year.  So a couple of weeks ago, Dada used Love Bug's highchair to give Roo a haircut.  It actually looks pretty good, but I really miss his floppy hair.  Oh well, it'll grow out again, and it's not like Roo enjoys getting a haircut, so there's no real need to keep it short.  The only reason we cut it was to help him not get as hot outside.  So stay tuned for some pics of floppy Roo hair this winter!

Mommy's Little Shopping Helper

Roo has been a really great little helper at the grocery store recently.  We seem to have moved past the little fits he used to have about one particular food or another as we go down each isle to the little guy who puts the food in the basket for mommy.  He's actually a lot of fun to shop with and I'm getting to teach him a lot of new words while we do it.  One weekend, he decided that we should use the stroller as our shopping cart.  As you can imagine, we didn't buy many groceries that weekend!

Newfound Skill....

We've been dreading this new skill of Roo's for a while.  But finally, for the first time this weekend, Roo opened the fridge.  We're hoping we just didn't close it well......

Good Times...

This weekend was great.  The kids were so much fun; even being cooped up in the house on Sunday because of the rain wasn't that bad.  Enjoy the pics.

This one is great.  Love Bug loves playing with the little piano but has trouble reaching it when it's put away.  Roo got it down for him and then stayed to play with him for a bit.

  

Solid Food Progress....

It looks like we're making some progress with Love Bug starting to eat solid foods.  I haven't tried giving him anything in over a week and decided to try peas this weekend...just peas, no cereal, no peas mixed with cereal, just peas.  Well, he seemed to enjoy the peas.  He likes to put the spoon in his mouth on his own and actually eats the peas.  He didn't turn his head away and didn't clamp his mouth closed.  Needless to say, I'm really excited about this small step forward.  Oh, and we're also starting to use a sippy cup, he seems to enjoy that as well; he may never actually use a bottle at home, and that wouldn't be a bad transition.  We'll see how this all goes.

A Good Moment

Today dada was making milkshakes for he and Roo.  They had just spent most of the day outside turning the yard into a park.  Roo was such a good helper while dada was doing work and when mommy took him to the store; probably one of his best days in a long time.  Anyhow, so dada was making milk shakes and mommy was trying to get Love Bug to eat a bite of solid food and when the blender started they both turned and stared at dada to see what he was doing.  It was the cutest thing, they look so much alike and a lot like dada.  I didn't take a picture because we were just enjoying watching them watch dada.  If it happens again I'll try to get a picture of it, for now, you just have to use your imagination.

Hello Spring!

This weekend we decided to enjoy the beautiful sunny spring weather and redo the landscaping in the front of the house.  We first went to Tumbleweed Gardens on Saturday to look at some trees.  When Love Bug and mommy arrived, Dada and Roo had picked out a beautiful Japanese Maple.  But that one tree would have cost the entire budget, so we didn't get it.  This morning we loaded up the whole family and went to Lowe's.  Roo decided to be a good helper and push the carts for us.  This made shopping take a bit longer and cause Dada to lose focus.  Even better, Roo was not the only 2 year old picking out plants for his family this morning!  Luckily, Mommy is a bit frugal and figured out that we could get all the plants we need for the cost of the 1 tree we looked at Saturday.  We spent the rest of the day planting.  Mommy was excited to use the truck to pull the azaleas out; that was fun!  Hours later, we completed our project and it looks great.  It's nice to see the pretty brick on the foundation, and to just see something new. We still need one more of the Emerald Vitae for the leftmost portion of the front to anchor that side, but for a single day, we did pretty good.

Oh, and we're taking Grandma's advice on the solids with Love Bug.  We figure, if we keep on trying he'll eventually open his mouth for the food.  No luck yet, but at least he's not crying about it anymore.   

Finally, take a look at Roo's hair.  He's a pretty cute floppy haired kid.  If you look back through the blog, you'll see that he hasn't had a haircut (at least not a professional one) since last May!  At this point it's hard to imagine what he would look like with short hair.  Oh, and please excuse his outfit, it's his Sunday best....ah yes, mommy would be happy if she never saw those shorts again :)

Solids are Yucky!

Because of Love Bugs allergies, we thought it would be good to attempt solids starting at 4 months.  The allergist and pediatrician gave us the green light....Love Bug didn't.  We figure to get through all the first foods and to do them each for at least 3 days to see if he has an allergy would take a long time.  So off we went, trying the icky cereal first, no luck.  So we tried some veggies, no luck there either.  And then we unsuccessfully tried fruit.  

So here we are at 5 1/2 months and we can't even get the kiddo to open his mouth for the food....unless he's the one putting the spoon in his mouth.  We're sure when he's ready to have solids he'll let us know; until then, we try once a night just for practice.  We just can't wait for the messy fun to start :)
