Whoa....A Busy New Year!

I haven't posted a single post this year!! I think that means I earn a B-. We've been busy and I will hopefully be able to travel back in time to post pictures and stories of everything we've done so far this year.

Happy 2013!

Lake House

In March we moved to a new house. It's in the same neighborhood but on the lake and in a quiet cul de sac. We are really enjoying the new house. The boys are outside all the time and we are pretty much unpacked and settled in. We even got a free canoe. We haven't made any big changes but did have to get a new washer and dryer since the room and units weren't properly formatted for the layout of the laundry room. We'll eventually get around to finishing the basement and either making a patio or a patio and the deck bigger. It's wonderful to feel so at home some quickly. I was worried we would miss the old house a lot. The boys both adjusted pretty quickly and love their new rooms. The lake is wonderful and very relaxing. Welcome home!

Play Ball

We signed Bug up to play Blast Ball through Little League this spring. He loves it, in fact he loves it so much that his brother decided he wanted to play. We lucked out and there was an open spot on a T-Ball team so he's playing now too. Bug is on the Mets and Roo is on the Braves. They've both had a couple of games now and are having fun. Bug is always excited to get home and tell us how well he hit the ball. Roo looks so unassuming at the plate but always gets at least one big hit a game, with the rest of his hits being solid as well. He's one of the few kids not trying to kill it! Bug is natural at fielding and throwing the ball. We need to work a little more with Roo on that part, but he's having fun and that's what matter most!

Slum Lords

At the end of March we officially became landlords. We rented out the old house and were lucky enough to get renters within the first week of listing it for rent. We are using a property management company to handle everything which should make it less of a hassle for us. Though renting the house out may not be ideal, it enabled us to have peace of mind moving into the new house. We decided to rent it until we can break even selling it. We may end up keeping it as a rental if it's fairly hassle free and if we get a certain amount back on taxes instead of owing. We'll see, but for now, we're officially landlords.

Tooth Fairy

Roo has lost his two front teeth. I was hoping they'd both be gone for Christmas but one starting coming back in with the adult tooth by then. That's ok, it's cool to watch him get so excited about his teeth being loose. Not so cool when he asks me to wiggle a loose tooth though, yuck!

Tree Nuts

On Tuesday Bug had an appointment at Hopkins to trial tree nuts. Uncle Matt met us on the way there and helped entertain Bug during the challenge. The tree nut challenge is challenging as you have to consume a lot of nuts and a variety of nuts. Bug did awesome and passed with flying colors! He was very excited about passing. I think his favorite part of the day was when the clowns came by his room and were blowing bubbles. Hopkins is just awesome with kids. Thanks to Uncle Matt for helping out!

Sleepover

Roo had a routine follow-up pulmonology appointment in Leesburgy on Friday. He was scheduled to swim in a swim meet in Manassas on Saturday. So we spent the night at Aunt Linda and Uncle Edd's house. Everyone had a blast! We went to dinner at a local restaurant that my cousins loved growing up and Roo enjoyed his caesar salad and mac&cheese. We had fun hanging out and eating Aunt Linda's awesome chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen after dinner. And we had a fun morning catching up on more conversation. Roo had been sick so he didn't go to the swim meet, but no matter, it was wonderful having a sleepover.

Santa at the Fire House

Santa visited the local fire and rescue for the holidays. The boys were excited to see Santa and the tour the fire and rescue personnel gave us was amazing! They let us not only look at the fire trucks and ambulances, they were happy to explain the history of their fleet and what is unique about each vehicle. The best part for me though was how knowledgeable they were about food allergy and how to treat it, talk about peace of mind.

Team Players

This year I was able to get a few good pictures of the boys together in their festive sweater. No issues with team players, which I know makes Uncle Matt happy!
