Team Players

This year I was able to get a few good pictures of the boys together in their festive sweater. No issues with team players, which I know makes Uncle Matt happy!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Mom had a big birthday this year and we celebrated at a restaurant in Culpeper. We had a great time and think mom really enjoyed her birthday. This is a picture of the clock cake I made for the party....the mocha coffee icing was delicious!  Happy Birthday Grandma!

Bug's Birthday Party

Bug had his birthday party at the old elementary school just like his brother did. And he had a transformers birthday cake that I made, just like his brother. Bug was so excited to have his friends from school at the party! We had a great time and it was wonderful to catch up with my friend Barb and her daughter Mo!

Trick or Treat

We took the boys trick or treating in a nearby neighborhood with some of their friends this year. It was also the first year Bug has gone trick or treating. We talked with him and Roo a lot about not eating any of the candy while we were out and that a lot if not most of the candy would be items Bug is allergic to. Both boys listened really well and were happy to have just 2 pieces of candy the entire night. They were both also really good about saying thank you and happy halloween at all of the houses we visited.  The only snafu of the night was the scary house as we call it. You could hear it was going to be scary from down the road and Bug was excited to get to the house and be brave and ask for candy. Well, he made it almost all the way up the driveway before he burst into tears. I rescued him and one of the scary characters from the house walked by me when I was carrying him away which made him cry a little more. Turns out this house belongs to one of our coworkers and it was a bunch of people we know. Next year we'll blow their cover and have them unmask for Bug! Bug didn't sleep great that night but he's back to normal now. Happy Halloween!

When I looked through the pictures on Daddy's phone the other day I had no idea how many pictures he had of Roo eating! I have a few too, but this is a pretty comprehensive collection.

Pumpkin Patch

We were late going to the pumpkin patch again this year, but maybe not as late as last year because there were a lot of good pumpkins left. And even though both boys had field trips to different pumpkin patches I really like to go as a family. I also like to take lots of pictures and this year I have a new camera so there was no way we weren't going as a family! We had a good time and the boys picked out a couple of big pumpkins that we'll save for when we're cooped up in the house during Frankenstorm. Hooray for fall and hooray for pumpkins!

Mid-Fall Update

It has been a while since I've updated, primarily because we are very busy. I knew we'd be busy with school and sports starting and busy we have been. Roo is swimming three to four nights a week for the Raiders and has homework three nights a week.

We had signed him up to play soccer because we weren't sure how committed he was to swimming. Well, he also asked mommy to coach his team, so now I'm coaching his team that he's not even playing on anymore, that's how committed he is to swimming! He is really enjoying swimming and swam in his first meet a couple of weeks ago. He was a little confused when to go off the blocks on freestyle and must not have set correctly on backstroke but he did great and had a lot of fun. He has another meet in a week. Most of his homework is practicing handwriting and learning to read site words. He's being great about getting his homework done. He seems to really be enjoying school and especially enjoys art class. He really enjoyed the field trip with his class to the pumpkin patch and bowling with Daddy afterwards.

Now that Bug is in the preschool class he is allowed to go on field trips. I went with him a week ago to the pumpkin patch. He had a lot of fun especially meeting Grandma and Grandpa for lunch and ice cream. He is really enjoying preschool and it is obvious he is learning a ton. 

Bug had also been coughing since about mid August and after consulting with his allergist and starting him on a daily inhaler he is doing great.  He and Roo both seem to be doing well with their asthma managed by a daily inhaler.

First Week of Kindergarten

Roo started kindergarten this week! We are so proud of him. He had a great first week and helped another new little boy at his daycare have a good first week too. We're so happy we sent him to preschool where we sent him this past year. He made a lot of friends and for a shy Roo, nothing could be better than having four kids you already know in your kindergarten class. He loved riding the school bus and said he really enjoyed lunch in the cafeteria with his friends and coloring in class.

When we took Roo to open house last week, he was complaining that he didn't feel well and that he had a headache. When we got to the school he couldn't believe how many cars and people were there. He was definitely nervous. It all went away when he walked into his classroom and saw his friends Joseph and Kristina. The rest of the day was a blast and we were all very excited for school to start.

In addition to starting school this week, Bug is now officially a preschooler. He is really enjoying preschool and being in the big boy class!
