Adventures in Roo-sitting

We had a family emergency this past week and Uncle Matt quickly jumped in to help out. He greeted The Roo when the sitter dropped him off on Thursday and then picked him up from the sitter on Friday. Thanks to Kristin for being extra flexible too! Then Uncle Matt watched The Roo a lot of they day on Saturday and even did bedtime with him. We were glad Uncle Matt was able to help and that the rest of our family and friends who were aware of what was going on were standing by to help, it meant a lot, so thank you.
Dada was happy to be home again on Saturday night and Baxter was excited to greet him. You'd think mama was chopped liver with the greeting dada got! And then Sunday The Roo was just elated to see his dada and play with him all day.
Everything's pretty much back to normal at home now and we're happy to just relax and play with Baxter and The Roo. And, we can't wait to celebrate The Roo's 2nd birthday this Saturday!

Just Another Monday

So Monday's are not anyone's favorite day of the week in our house. Believe it not, we haven't set an alarm clock since The Roo was born. Recently, Baxter has been our alarm clock during the week. The lucky dog gets to sleep in bed with us and in return his responsibility is to make sure we get up on time for work. Usually around 6am he moves from being in the middle of the bed inbetween mommy and daddy over to mommys side of the bed, or depending on his mood, on top of mommy (yes, mommy loves this....sarcasm). But recently, Baxter has been sleeping in on Monday's and we haven't had a very reliable alarm clock.

On top of our reliable alarm clock becoming unreliable, The Roo has decided that Monday's are his least favorite day of the week. This is good and bad. It makes mommy and daddy feel good because we know he loves all the time and attention he gets with us on weekends, but makes us feel bad that we don't get to be home with him all week long. Maybe if Baxter got a day job and really worked to earn his keep one of us could stay home with The Roo.

So this morning mommy got up and got ready and decided that we really didn't want a repeat of last Monday. Last Monday daddy carried The Roo out of the house over his shoulder kicking and crying. He was over his shoulder to avoid the painful crab pinches that The Roo uses as his weapon of choice. Very very painful. So today, mommy made sure that The Roo had a sippy and snack ready and waiting. Funny enough, The Roo decided to sleep in, so when mommy went in to wake him, he was in a lovey mood. We took him downstairs and as we were getting him dressed, he said, night night, night night. Poor Roo, just wanted to go back to bed. Who can blame him, wouldn't you rather sleep than have a Monday!

Weekend Fun

The last few weekends we have just hung around the house and played. It's been a lot of fun and really relaxing. Anytime you don't have to get in the car with The Roo it's a good thing, so staying at home is always a victory.


It's fun to roam around the house in my doggie pjs and my doggie towel. Baxter makes out well in this deal too because The Roo is great at sharing his snack....one for Baxter one for Roo and that's how it works. Mommy and daddy put Baxter on the diet because he gets plenty of extra food from Roo.
Last night The Roo had fun outside with daddy. They sat on the stairs and every time the sprinkler passed by and got Roo wet he would just squeal with joy.....it was really funny!

We got Roo a cute little red wagon a week ago. Just like when we got him the cozy coupe, the wagon is one of his toys that he does crazy daredevil stunts on. He thinks it's especially funny when he stands up in it, mommy moves it back and forth, and he falls out backwards. Crazy! We did however catch him sitting nicely in it for a few minutes enjoying his sippy.

Pink or Blue?

Today we were excited to let The Roo know that he's going to have a little brother! We've been telling him for a while now that he's going to be a big brother but he doesn't really understand what we're talking about yet. The week we found out we are having another The Roo rubbed mommy's belly....hmm...maybe he knew something sooner than we did! The Roo is great around babies and is going to be a wonderful big brother. Plus, that means he'll have a partner in crime to gang up on Baxter with!

Sliding is Fun!

Last fall we took The Roo to the park in the neighborhood to play. He was a bit hesitant and not really sure if he wanted to venture down the big slides. This past weekend we took The Roo to the berry farm and to the park in the neighborhood. Both have slides. The Roo, who is bounding with energy loved climbing up the slides, walking down the slides and going down the slides both on his bottom and of course head first. Love and Fries

We stayed in the house most of the day today because of the oppressive heat outside. The Roo, who normally gets really upset if you don't take him outside didn't seem to mind. So tonight after an early dinner we all got in the car and went for a little ride. We went down a few roads we had never been down and somehow wound up in Colonial Beach. That's ok, we stopped at McDonalds and got a little after dinner treat to enjoy on a hot day and we got The Roo some fries. He loved it....first he'd eat one, and then he'd give one to Baxter....repeat until he was done. Baxter loved that The Roo was sharing and The Roo couldn't have been happier to have Baxter in the car with him. Maybe this was the missing trick on the 12 hour long trip to Maine?!

Baxter and The Roo Reunite!

We got home from vacation on Friday and relaxed that evening. The house seemed really empty without Baxter and The Roo was looking for him. Mommy went to get Baxter from the nice doggie retreat on Saturday and then took him for a nice cleaning before we headed home. Baxter and The Roo were very excited to see each other after such a long time away. But Baxter was so tired from his vacation, he couldn't keep up with The Roo on Saturday. But don't worry, Baxter got a good night of sleep and was back licking in full force on Sunday. They're happy to be back together again.

Vacation was Fun!

Though Maine is a really long way and The Roo doesn't enjoy long car rides, he still had a really fun time. Baxter had to stay behind for this trip and enjoyed his stay at the lovely doggie retreat we sent him to.

At the beginning of the week we spent some time with Daddy's family and friends that he grew up with. He got a great big kiss from his new buddy. Too bad both mommy and daddy were too slow getting the picture of them kissing each other at the same time. Are wedding bells in their future?

We left Newport on Sunday and went to Boothbay Harbor and met up with Grandma and Grandpa G for the rest of the week. The weather was beautiful and we all enjoyed relaxing and spending time outside.

We made it home from Maine without stopping overnight; The Roo was so excited to get out of the car that he ran around the house as fast as he could for about an hour before he went to sleep.

We all enjoyed vacation and were glad to enjoy one last week of nice cool weather.

Vacation Day 1.5

The Roo was quite the trooper yesterday. The route that saved us over an hour on the way back home once wound up being very congested with no good place to escape. It took us 12 hours to get to NH. It usually takes that long to get to our destination in ME. The Roo was very excited that mommy and daddy were thoughtful enough to bring his big dump truck; he had fun crashing around the hotel room with it last night. When The Roo got up this morning he asked where his 'gi' is (gi is the word for doggie or anything with four legs). Baxter's in puppy prison for the week and The Roo really misses him.

We got to grandma's house today and he got to meet his new friend the cat, Miss Sassy. How would you greet a cat? The Roo thought screaming at Miss Sassy and laughing at her was a good way to say hello. He also chased her with the dump truck. We'll see if she warms up to him over the weekend, but he's very excited about his new furry friend.
