Love and Fries

We stayed in the house most of the day today because of the oppressive heat outside. The Roo, who normally gets really upset if you don't take him outside didn't seem to mind. So tonight after an early dinner we all got in the car and went for a little ride. We went down a few roads we had never been down and somehow wound up in Colonial Beach. That's ok, we stopped at McDonalds and got a little after dinner treat to enjoy on a hot day and we got The Roo some fries. He loved it....first he'd eat one, and then he'd give one to Baxter....repeat until he was done. Baxter loved that The Roo was sharing and The Roo couldn't have been happier to have Baxter in the car with him. Maybe this was the missing trick on the 12 hour long trip to Maine?!

Baxter and The Roo Reunite!

We got home from vacation on Friday and relaxed that evening. The house seemed really empty without Baxter and The Roo was looking for him. Mommy went to get Baxter from the nice doggie retreat on Saturday and then took him for a nice cleaning before we headed home. Baxter and The Roo were very excited to see each other after such a long time away. But Baxter was so tired from his vacation, he couldn't keep up with The Roo on Saturday. But don't worry, Baxter got a good night of sleep and was back licking in full force on Sunday. They're happy to be back together again.

Vacation was Fun!

Though Maine is a really long way and The Roo doesn't enjoy long car rides, he still had a really fun time. Baxter had to stay behind for this trip and enjoyed his stay at the lovely doggie retreat we sent him to.

At the beginning of the week we spent some time with Daddy's family and friends that he grew up with. He got a great big kiss from his new buddy. Too bad both mommy and daddy were too slow getting the picture of them kissing each other at the same time. Are wedding bells in their future?

We left Newport on Sunday and went to Boothbay Harbor and met up with Grandma and Grandpa G for the rest of the week. The weather was beautiful and we all enjoyed relaxing and spending time outside.

We made it home from Maine without stopping overnight; The Roo was so excited to get out of the car that he ran around the house as fast as he could for about an hour before he went to sleep.

We all enjoyed vacation and were glad to enjoy one last week of nice cool weather.

Vacation Day 1.5

The Roo was quite the trooper yesterday. The route that saved us over an hour on the way back home once wound up being very congested with no good place to escape. It took us 12 hours to get to NH. It usually takes that long to get to our destination in ME. The Roo was very excited that mommy and daddy were thoughtful enough to bring his big dump truck; he had fun crashing around the hotel room with it last night. When The Roo got up this morning he asked where his 'gi' is (gi is the word for doggie or anything with four legs). Baxter's in puppy prison for the week and The Roo really misses him.

We got to grandma's house today and he got to meet his new friend the cat, Miss Sassy. How would you greet a cat? The Roo thought screaming at Miss Sassy and laughing at her was a good way to say hello. He also chased her with the dump truck. We'll see if she warms up to him over the weekend, but he's very excited about his new furry friend.

The Roo's First Horseback Ride

So tonight I got home from work a little later than usual and The Roo was full speed ahead with a billion things to say (in his own little words) and to show me. Evidentially he thought it was just hilarious to ride Baxter like a bucking bronco or a horse and then fall off.

Just picture it, The Roo mounts Baxter like a bull and leans forward to hang on, Baxter wiggled a little when The Roo tried to grab his toy and then The Roo held on like Baxter was a bucking bronco or bull.

Note to Grandparents: If you're worried, we were right there, The Roo is fine, don't worry.

And then after that he just thought it was the funniest thing in the world to mount Baxter like a horse and bounce up and down on him and then fall off. Baxter was great and just let The Roo have his fun.

But no, I don't have any pictures or video of this fun! Maybe next time....

If Baxter Doesn't Like it....

Then The Roo doesn't usually like it. I got The Roo this fun outdoor water set that you blow up and then attach a hose to and water sprays out. It has a dolphin, a palm tree and even a slide. We set it up in the yard and Baxter was outside when we turned the water on. Of course, he barked. The Roo saw him bark at it. So when The Roo and I went to play in it, he got scared. This isn't the first time this has happened. Baxter always barks at the vacuum and depending on whether or not Baxter is nearby when we're vacuuming, The Roo will get upset at that too.

Recent Adventures of The Roo

The Roo has been very busy lately which is why Mommy hasn't updated the blog in a while (at least that's her excuse). Here are some pictures of his recent adventures.

The Roo is great at helping around the house. Hopefully he'll be just as good a helper when he's a teenager! The Roo decided he wanted to try soccer-tots. The hula hoop on the second Saturday has been his favorite thing about soccer so far. Mommy and daddy enjoy watching all the little tots run around. The Roo is happy to enjoy an activity where he doesn't get licked!
The Roo was introduced to finger painting. Finger painting is a lot of fun and it's of course even more fun to eat the paints.
The Roo enjoyed wearing his bunny ears and going on an Easter egg hunt. Even more fun was discovering that the eggs were filled with chocolate and trying to eat the chocolater before mom and dad could take it away.

But really, it's so easy to blame The Roo when he's the one holding the marker!

Long Time No Blog.....

We knew early on that Baxter and The Roo would be the best of friends. Recently Baxter has taken to crying while The Roo is napping. For example, today The Roo took a really long afternoon nap...this was great for mom and dad, but not so much fun for Baxter. Baxter and The Roo play hard all weekend long and on Sunday nights, Baxter just crashes. This is also nice for mom and dad; an evening without licks!
